Based on a type of ROM called electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM), Flash memory provides fast, permanent storage.

CD-R/W - Compact disk, erasable, read/write. A blank CD that can be recorded on and erased many times.

Erasable means that the data on it can be removed.

Either the bulletin board owner would erase the file from the system or people would send out messages to warn one another.
